Your tank gets dug up by hand every single pumping
Risers & Lids
Septic Tank Risers & Lid Replacement
If we have to dig up your yard every time your tank needs pumping, you're paying for that dig every time. A riser brings the lid up to grade so the next service call is a lift, not an excavation. It pays for itself in about two pump-outs.
What We Install
Bring The Lid Up To Grade
A riser is a collar that extends the tank opening from wherever it's buried up to ground level, capped with a sealed lid. Most tanks around Shasta County sit anywhere from a few inches to a few feet down.
We usually install one while we're already on site for a pumping, since the lid is open anyway. That's the cheapest time to do it.
- Polyethylene risers sized to your tank opening
- Concrete lid replacement when the original has cracked
- Plastic lid and cover replacement
- Sealed, gasketed lids that keep water and odor out
- Child-safe and traffic-rated lid options
- Locating and uncovering a buried tank lid
- Riser install added to a scheduled pumping visit
When You Need This

Our Process
Usually A Same-Visit Job
01
Locate
We find the tank and uncover the existing lid. If you don't know where it is, that's normal and we'll track it down.
02
Measure
Opening diameter and depth to grade decide the riser size. Tanks in this county vary more than people expect.
03
Install
Riser seated and sealed to the tank, lid fitted and gasketed. Backfilled and set flush so you can mow over it.
04
Mark It
We show you exactly where it is before we go, so the next service call starts with a lift instead of a shovel.
Common Questions
Riser Questions We Get
What does a septic tank riser actually do?
It extends the tank opening up to ground level and caps it with a sealed lid. Instead of digging to reach the tank, we lift a lid. Every future pumping, inspection, and repair gets faster and cheaper.
Is a riser worth the money?
If your tank is buried more than a few inches, yes. The labor to hand-dig a lid runs into most pump-out bills. Two or three service calls and the riser has paid for itself.
Can you install one while you pump my tank?
That's the ideal time and how we usually do it. The lid is already open and the crew is already there, so you aren't paying twice for the same dig.
Are risers safe with kids or animals around?
The lids we install are secured and sealed, not loose covers sitting in a hole. If safety is the reason you're calling, tell us and we'll spec accordingly.
My concrete lid is cracked. Do I need a whole riser?
Not necessarily. Sometimes a lid replacement is the whole job. We'll look at it and tell you which one you actually need.
Can I drive or park over the riser?
Only with a traffic-rated lid, and even then we'd rather you didn't. Tell us up front if the tank sits under a driveway so we spec the right cover.
